Manchester United Increases Bid for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu to €30m

Red Devils Push for Patrick Dorgu in Final Days of the Transfer Window

Manchester United have submitted an improved offer of €30m (£25.3m) to secure the signing of Lecce’s versatile left-back Patrick Dorgu, according to reports. The Premier League giants are keen to bolster their options at left-back as manager Ruben Amorim looks to implement his attacking system at Old Trafford.

United’s initial bid of €27m (£22.8m) was rejected by Lecce, who value the 20-year-old at closer to €40m (£33.7m). Despite the setback, the Red Devils have returned with a higher offer, which sources such as The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano suggest is “in excess of €30m.” However, Lecce remain firm on their valuation as they aim to retain their top talents while fighting against relegation.

United Target Dorgu After Missing Out on Nuno Mendes

Dorgu has emerged as a priority target for Manchester United after their failed pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes. Amorim sees the young Danish defender as an ideal fit for his high-intensity, attack-minded tactics, with Dorgu’s versatility and attacking prowess making him an attractive prospect.

Lecce’s president, Saverio Sticchi Damiani, recently stated the club’s preference to keep key players during the crucial second half of the season. However, Manchester United remain hopeful of striking a deal before the transfer window closes.

Antony Loaned to Real Betis as United Free Up Wages

United’s increased pursuit of Dorgu coincides with Antony’s temporary move to Real Betis. The Spanish side has agreed to cover the majority of Antony’s wages, saving United an estimated £1.5m over the next six months. While Betis won’t pay a loan fee, the agreement provides financial flexibility for further deals.

Marcus Rashford’s Future Remains Uncertain

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United is still up in the air. The 27-year-old forward has been frozen out of the first team under Amorim, prompting interest from clubs such as AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund. However, his reported £300,000-per-week wages have proven a stumbling block in negotiations, with talks with Dortmund breaking down.

AC Milan, who were considering Rashford, instead opted to use their final foreign loan spot on Manchester City’s Kyle Walker. Despite this, Rashford has been linked with a potential move to struggling West Ham United, who remain in need of attacking reinforcements.
